Library Project Groundbreaking Date is Set!

Groundbreaking for the Livonia Public Library Improvement Project set to take place Friday, September 30 at 3:00pm

Livonia, NY – September 23, 2016

Great News! Groundbreaking for the Livonia Public Library Improvement Project is set to take place on Friday, September 30 at 3:00pm at the Livonia Public Library, 2 Washington St. Livonia, NY 14487! All are invited to attend this momentous occasion!

The groundbreaking ceremony will kick off an approximately ten-month construction timeline, which is slated for completion in the summer of 2017. Included in this improvement project is a desperately needed expansion, renovation to the nearly 90-year-old existing library, and a parking lot. With the larger facility the library will be able to offer many more enhanced programs, services, and increased collections. An entirely new children’s library, with size-appropriate seating and shelving, new technology and activities, will headline the planned improvements. A public meeting room will be the new home for numerous community organizations, technology events, author visits, performers, and exciting children’s, teen, and adult events! Other planned spaces include a “Fire-side reading lounge,” computer-connect center, tutor rooms, and an outdoor reading patio. Check out the library’s website at for more information on the improvement project and other library news!

We have been so pleased, so appreciative, of the generous support we have received from so many sources as we undertook this project. Senator Catharine Young, who was recently named “Library Champion” by New Yorkers for Better Libraries, has been on board from the start. Her efforts to secure grant funding for this project was vital. The Town and Village of Livonia boards, Livonia Public Library Trustees, Friends of the Livonia Public Library, and numerous community donors have been supportive through the entire planning and development process. THANK YOU!

The Livonia Pubic Library truly is your community library and we hope you will be able to join us for this exciting event!

The Livonia Public Library now offers the library edition of!  This amazing resource is available from any library computer or your own device on the library’s WiFi.
